Valentines Dessert on a Budget

Let’s be honest here… How much do you spend on Valentine’s Day?  Fifteen bucks for chocolates?  Fifty for flowers?  A million dollars on dinner?  Ok, maybe more like $100 but sometimes it does feel like a million.  But you don’t have to break your budget to keep from breaking your babe’s heart.

I’m a firm believer that intentional gifts are always the best!  There is nothing better than knowing that your significant other put their mind and heart into making something special just for you.  So today, I will share a delicious and beautiful dessert recipe with you all that will not break your bank.  As a matter of fact, you won’t believe that this amazing Valentine’s Day dessert is less than fifteen dollars!  Yup fifteen dollars!

Recipe 

Trader Joe’s Pie Dough – $2.99

1 pint of Organic Blueberries – $4.99

1/2 Lemon Juice – .50

1 Tablespoon of Raw Sugar

1 Organic Egg White

Total : $8.50 assuming that you have sugar and eggs at home

Directions

In a bowl mix the blueberries, lemon zest, lemon juice and set aside. Roll out the pie dough and place the blueberries in the center of the dough. Start folding the rim of the dough towards the middle, does not need to be perfect. Beat the egg white with a little water and with a baking brush apply it to the folded part of the dough. Sprinkle the raw sugar and place in the oven following the baking instructions on your dough package.
