Hello DBL readers!
For those who don’t know us, we are Katie & Jon, authors of SewWoodsy.com. We are a husband and wife DIY team: we document our journey of homeownership one tutorial at a time. Sew Woodsy is a place where we share our love for renovating and decorating on a budget. Each of our blog post includes detailed tutorials and photographs to help the average person become a DIY expert.
We are so excited to be here today sharing our Top 10 Holiday Gifts for the DIYer! We have had the opportunity to hangout with Ashley not once but twice this year (Haven and 3M Auto Event)! When Ashley asked us to share our top holiday gift ideas for DIYers we knew we couldn’t resist. We work with so many products on a daily basis and we have found a few standard tools that every creative person should own! We hope this makes writing your list or shopping for a loved one a little easier.
So, what are we waiting for… let’s get started!
For the wood worker:
$49 Porter-Cable 5-Inch Random Orbit Sander
Any time we work on just about any wood project we use our orbital sander. We have this Porter Cable sander and love it! It’s a work horse and not super expensive (under $50)! I’ve become a pro at using the sander thanks to refinishing our dressers earlier this year!
$138 Ridgid 14-Gallon 6-Horsepower Wet/Dry Vacuum

If you plan to work with tools and create lots of saw dust this is the shop-vac for you! It comes with a few different attachments and will have your garage clean in no time! We also use ours to vacuum our cars!
$4.99 Rockler Silicone Glue Brush
We just discovered this beauty this year when Mr. Woodsy was making drawer slides for our newly restored dressers. Because its silicone its easy to clean and you’ll never have to throw it away! This is a great stocking stuffer!
$69.97 RYOBI® Lithium-ion 18V Drill with AutoShift™
Katie had the chance to try this drill out at Haven and loved it. Not only could she actually hold the drill, but she could use it! This is a great beginner to intermediate dril. Heck, let’s be honest. If you don’t need a drill–add it to your holiday wish list… now!
$139 Kreg Jig Master System
If you want to make simple cabinets or even furniture the Kreg Jig Master System is where it is at. Katie bought Mr. Woodsy one of these last year for Christmas and he was super happy to learn that he would no longer need to biscuit cut and glue furniture/cabinets together again!
For the Crafty DIYer:
$15 Mod Podge Starter Pack, Set of 2-Ounce Bottles
You are not a crafter unless you own some Mod Podge! This starter pack has 5 different formulas to try! When in doubt… grab one of the many available formulas of Mod Podge! We have over a dozen Mod Podge tutorials on Sew Woodsy to get you or your crafting loved one started!
$25 Purple Cows Craftgeek Trim It 9 Blade Trimmer, Purple
If you or your favorite crafter is in the market for a paper trimmer… this is the one for them (or you)! 9 different blade settings makes this ideal for any crafter. It’s portable and slim so its easy to store as well! I love this paper trimmer!
$100 Cricut Mini® Personal Electronic Cutter
All crafters need a Cricut Mini in their life or at the very least a die-cutting machine of any kind! They come in handy and not just for crafting. Think about your children’s school project, or maybe you need a simple shape cut-out you want to trace. Or wait… even better a beautiful vinyl saying! Here are just a few of the projects we have recently made using our Cricut Mini: 3D Rudolph Head, Christmas Subway Art, and our Wood Vinyl Sign. Right now you can get 20% off ALL Holiday items! (Ends Dec. 31st).
$20 Tulip Fashion Glitter Shimmer Transfer Sheets
If you love glitter but hate the mess these shimmer sheets are for you or your favorite crafty person in your life. They also can be placed through a die-cutting machine making the possibilities endless! Recently we made a Christmas Glitter Doormat using the shimmer sheets and have a few more fun projects up our sleeves!
$20 Martha Stewart Large Stencil, Arabesque
Katie got this stencil last year and loved how easy it was to use. She made a painted table runner and double-sided painted pillow covers using this stencil. The options are endless. Every great crafter should own at least a few good stencils in their arsenal!

I think I could go for just about any of those gifts!!! And you know, as a fellow DIYer, those gifts really pull at my heartstrings! Katie and Jon are really the cutest couple! I had the chance to briefly meet them at Haven and then I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to get to know them a bit better when I traveled to 3M headquarters!
Thanks for sharing guys!
