Right now, I’m in FULL bar exam preparation mode. The exam is just around the corner, but after months of studying feels like it should be over by now. While I’m being as diligent as possible in my studying, every now and again, my mind wanders, and it becomes clear that I simply need a break. Today, that break happened to be this blog post.
You see, this whole bar exam thing is the final chapter in my lifetime of education. To become an attorney, I have to pass it, but if I do, I will never have to study for another exam in my life. I’ll be happy. My husband will be happier.
To take my mind off of studying and give it a proper break today, I thought it would be fun to whip up a blog post about some of the things that occupy the creative part of my brain during this very draining and monotonous study process. Truthfully, there are tons of things that occupy my daydreams, but today, I’ll just share a few.
With such a long, arduous process, I’m looking forward to finally spending some of that graduation money that I’ve been holding on to. The first things that come to mind are pretty, functional, challenging, and rewarding!
This Agate Necklace from Towne & Reese totally stole my heart. I love its simplicity and bold statement. It would be the perfect accessory for a night out, or a business meeting with new clients.
This Smart Zip Wallet is what I really need! Ask the hubs! When we go out, I almost never take a purse. I grab my drivers license, ATM card, lip gloss, and phone. That’s it. I really don’t like having anything extra on me. And the worst part for the hubs, is that if I don’t have pockets… guess who ends up holding my stuff! Ya, I should probably get one of these…
If you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed that I’ve made some major changes in my life. I eat clean 75-80% of the time, and workout five days a week. After being an athlete most of my life, I accumulated a pretty hefty workout wardrobe. But, after years of not making fitness a priority, things fit awkwardly, are worn out, or just aren’t what I want to wear. To reward myself for kicking my butt into gear and getting healthy, I’ve decided to buy some funky workout clothes. I’ve already got a few pieces, but this is next on my list! It’s a sweat activated funky-fun workout tank top- Eat Clean, Train Hard! LOVE IT!
Next up… an Ana White work apron. These things are awesome. With all the projects in my past, I was always complaining about not having a tool belt like the hubs. But, at 5’2″, there aren’t a lot of options that will fit me, let alone that are attractive. Ana’s apron fits the bill! It’s comfy, functional, reinforced, and awesome! I’m getting one. And I might have to have it customized somehow once I do.
Next up… this item is cute and functional. It’s a headphone keychain pouch- tutorial by Erin at Dog Under My Desk! I take my headphones everywhere I go. Not only are they great for music, but they are also a hands-free headset, perfect for client calls on the go. The unfortunate reality is that I don’t have anywhere great to store them. This is the perfect solution! They’ll be with me everywhere I go, and they’ll keep from getting tangled. Aside from the functionality of this item, I’ve been wanting to reteach myself to sew for a long time, and I’ve never had the time with law school, and all. So, with no more school/testing in my very near future, this item is a double-whammy!
Last up, but certainly not least… this little candle DIY from Teotwawki Blog has been on my mind for a long time! I’ve been saving up “supplies” for the last couple months, and might even do a ladies’ craft night to git’r done. While the picture below using mason jars, and the tutorial is for “survival” candles (meaning long-burning soy candles), I plan on whipping them up for more functional regular household use. I really can’t wait to do these!!!
That about wraps up my daydreaming for now… back to studying!
