Black Friday Scores! TVs and Tools!
Yup, we were throwin’ bows to get some deals for Black Friday! We made our list, checked the ads twice, and were ready to rock! As our first ever Black Friday Adventure, we feel like we did a hell-of-a-job!!! We figured, if nothing else, it would be good entertainment. BUT, in the end, we scored the exact deals we were hoping to get!!! At Target, we were completely in it for TV’s! We specifically went to get a 46″ LCD on sale for a rock-bottom price of $280! What?!?!? Crazy, I know! The store opened at midnight, so we got there at 9pm. We thought we were plenty early, but apparently NOT! When we got in, they were out of our TV’s and only had 40″ LCDs left for $260. Still not a bad deal, but not exactly what we wanted. Though, afraid we’d miss the deal, we grabbed two (one each)! After we grabbed the TV’s, I ran to the TV mounts and grabbed two for $50 a piece… and they were the last two on the shelf! Then, as we headed for the check stands, I saw the family that was immediately in front of us in line, and they had a 46″! I was distraught! So distraught, that I asked them how they scored the TV, thinking they go the last one… Not. The. Case. They told me that someone decided they didn’t need two and gave the extra one to them! I told Eric to stand by the carts, I was heading in! I set out on a mission to “get” a 46″ TV! I prowled through the store, looking for the right person, and sure enough I found her! She was standing there, kind of aimlessly with one 46″ TV in her cart. Then, I … Continue reading

Fun Free Quick Fixes
In finalizing some things in the master bedroom, two things stood out like a sore thumbs: 1) the small frame on Eric’s nightstand, it had seen better days; and 2) the new ombre lampshade on my nightstand lamp didn’t quite fit right and was sitting all wonky. To address the issues, this is what I did: For the frame, I took this dated and dreary frame, gave it a quick coat of silver spray paint that I had left over from my $7 table centerpiece project, and wa la… GOOD AS NEW! Here’s the before and after. For the lamp shade, we exchanged it at Target thinking it was just a janky one, but the new one still didn’t fit quite right. So… enter our solution! I grabbed a metal file and just filed the metal ring inside the lamp shade and turned it as I went, to assure even filing. In the end, it fit perfectly! Two quick fixes that brought all kinds of joy! Have You Honored Your Wedding Vows
If you follow our blog, you may have noticed a few changes in our master bedroom tour from yesterday! In case you don’t, let me explain. Our walls in our master bedroom have been fairly blank for some time, until now! There have been four new additions. One of which is our wedding vows! Eric and I worked very hard to make our wedding as personal as possible because the main point for spending the money on the shindig was to pronounce our love for each other and share our love with our family and friends! This was of utmost important to us! So, writing our own vows was a give-in. A lot of couples use standard vows, or if they write their own vows, they do so together. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with these options, but for us, we wanted to take this opportunity to express our deepest sentiments to each other as a surprise. Since we worked so hard writing our vows and they were so deeply personal, we knew that we wanted to display them in our master bedroom, for both sentimental reasons and as a daily reminder of our union (not that we need it). And once I found the awesome heavy duty metal key for $4.99 at Ross… I knew it was time! Here’s my quick hanging tutorial via pictures: After everything was up, the key was showing some bright silver nail heads and I was just not feeling it! I quickly grabbed a craft paint brush and some brown acrylic paint. Abracadabra… no more silver standing out like a sore thumb! Now, the other wall hanging (out of the four) is a series of our engagement photos that we had yet to hang, but it’s on a wall that was never seen on … Continue reading

$15 Changed the Game
This might be the cheapest “big impact” design change we’ve made in our house other than paint! To some, it might not be a big deal, but to us, it has really brought the room together. Now, let me preface this by stating that our master bedroom is by no means complete, but we feel like it is well on it’s well, especially now! Now, you ask… what is this game changer exactly?!?!? 2 Lamp Shades 1 Vase Yes, that’s right, Target clearance came through for me and I was able to score the lamp shades for $6 a piece, and the vase for $3! To say the least, I was stoked! Y’all know we’ve been working on injecting a healthy dose of purple into our master bedroom (as seen here and here), so this was just icing on the cake! I’ll share more details on the vase and other purple accessories tomorrow, but the lamps are the “bees knees” of this post! Our lamp ordeal started here, when we originally purchased the shapely glass lamp bases from Target. What you guys didn’t know, is that there was yet another back and forth with these (I know, this is definitely becoming my M.O.)! Shortly after purchasing the bases, I decided that I just wasn’t sure they were giving me the impact that I wanted, so… I returned them, never even trying a lamp shade on the darn things (though I had tried desperately to find cool ones to go with these lamps and had failed miserably). Next up, I snagged these cute lamps at Marshall’s for only $20 a piece! Score!!! I loved the color, the narrow and tall shape, and the sheen! I figured they’d be perfect! I proudly plopped them on the nightstands, and over the next couple … Continue reading
