Cruisin’ the Guest Bathroom
Right now, there is a wonderful blog hop series going on… If you haven’t already joined the parties or checked out the spaces, you definitely should! Today, the party continues over at DIY by Design with guest bedrooms! Since I’ve already written about our guest bedroom/home office here, I figured I would share that link, but write about our guest bathroom today. I realized that I’ve never actually shared an official tour of our guest bathroom since the only peeps have been seen here and here. When we first purchased our home, the guest bathroom looked like this… an awful mess! We immediately picked a blue we loved and painted the walls, grabbed a shower curtain that we already had and knew we liked and threw it up. After the painting, we added some accessories to the bathroom: the shelf, towel rack, container, and soap dispenser. Shortly thereafter, we got a gift of some beautiful recycled aluminum tiles from a wonderful friend of ours, Doug Tolson. We immediately knew we had to DIY a statement piece for this bathroom and it ended up being our vanity mirror- the tutorial and before and after is found here. Lastly, I searched and searched for the perfect bathroom art and finally found something I loved… bird decor. Call me crazy, but I just love cute little birdies and bright colors… and these pieces satisfied both! So, for now, this is where we stand. Though, I have considered making some changes lately… don’t tell Eric. Future changes may or may not include: wall color change (although we love blue… we have a lot of it in our house) shower curtain change DIY vanity New vanity countertops and sink Until I make some final decisions about changes, I’ll just keep pinning inspiration photos until I … Continue reading

Updated Whole House Tour
Hey guys. I feel very fortunate to be participating in a wonderful linky party over at A Bowl Full of Lemons – The Parade of Homes. If you haven’t already checked out Toni’s blog, you should! It’s full of tons of fun challenges that are worth a gander, and the linky party is full of amazing inspiration! To celebrate this wonderful linky party and amazing blog, I’ve officially updated a long-overdue home tour. Feel free to check out the updated tour below. After this, I promise to try and keep the Home Tour tab updated as best I can as we go… so check back for updates when you can! The “stats” on our Home! Track Home Built in 2003 2300 sq. ft., single story! 4 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms VERY Open Floorplan Disclaimer (LOL): The following “before” pictures are just that… very “before,” taken when we first bought the house. As mentioned in our About Us, the house was a short sale that needed a ton of TLC, but it had the bones/floorplan we wanted, so we bought it anyways, figuring we could do most of the work ourselves and get it all up to our standards!!! We’ve now been in our house about a year and a half, which sounds like a long time, but when you are DIYing almost everything, progress is not always speedy! As such, “progress” pictures are simply posted as we go, but you can check out our “goals” for our home at the bottom of the About Us page if you want an idea of where we’re going with it all. Front of the house: Before Backyard: Before Sideyard: Before Entryway: Before Progress Dining Room: Before Progress Living Room: Before Progress Kitchen: Before Progress Family Room: Before Progress (bad cell picture… sorry! new … Continue reading
Tile Time!
So we just finished a wonderful new project that I am SUPER excited to share with everyone! We have been wanting to dress up our very builder-grade guest bathroom. We had already painted the bathroom blue, hung some accessories, and added a new shower curtain, but the bathroom still lacked some major pizazz… Guest Bathroom Before Tiled Mirror, but After Paint, New Shower Curtain, and Accessories This brings us to my “lucky break!” A wonderful friend of ours, local contractor, Doug Tolson (of Doug Tolson Construction) had some left-over Recycled Aluminum Tiles. Lucky for me, I snagged them right away! Really… I was speedy, and it was a close-call even getting them. Unfortunately, while I was stoked to get them, I was smack-dab in the middle of studying for law school exams, so I had to put off creating with my gift. But, finally we had time, so, after much thought and deliberation, we decided to make a tile-framed mirror for our bathroom! Sure, we could have used our existing mirror for this project, and just tiles around it, but we really just wanted more BANG for our buck effort. Here’s the final product: Mirror Updated! We are sooooo thrilled with the results. Unfortunately, pictures were just really hard to snag because of the dimensions of our bathroom, but hopefully you get the gist. Also, by no means is this bathroom complete. Next on the TO DO list for this bathroom- changing out the awful bar-light fixtures to something more sleek and modern stain/paint the vanity either chocolate or black change out the countertop to some kind of light color stone, like this and then finally, use the remaining aluminum tiles as the backsplash to play off the light countertop!!! I’m soooo excited… can you tell?!?!?! In case you … Continue reading
