Testing Out the DSLR, Easter Style
Ever since I bought my new Nikon D3100, I’ve been dying to try it out on the family and Easter was the perfect opportunity! While, most of the time, I’m still shooting in manual, it’s still tons of fun and captures bold, vibrant photos! I’m looking forward to learning tons of tips and tricks for using the camera, but I should probably at least begin with the free instructional DVD that came with the kit! As usual, our holidays are fun-filled craziness! We managed to pack in all three sets of parents on Easter day, but for some reason, I didn’t manage to get many pictures of my family… maybe it’s because we don’t have little kiddos… I don’t know. This is a few of us at our friend’s winery on Saturday, enjoying a picnic lunch and some wine! Sunday began with a very filling brunch at my parents’ house in their brand new kitchen (it’s just missing its backsplash and hood still). After my parents’, we headed to Eric’s mom and stepdad’s for lunch and then finally to Eric’s dad and stepmom’s for dinner. Getting to see our nieces and nephew hunt for Easter eggs was hilarious! There’s a good age difference from oldest to youngest, so it’s definitely interesting to see how they’ve developed and the differences in the ages! So, how’d I do for the first real time out? Not bad! Time to put that photography Pinterest board to use!!! HOW WAS EVERYONE’S EASTER? ANYTHING CRAZY HAPPEN- you know we love crazy family stories!?!? Blog this! Toes in the water, Ass in the sand… Honeymoon-Style
Yup! I cussed in this blog title, but you’ll just have to get over it because I have an excuse! Our entire honeymoon was hysterically euphoric and we just kept quoting this song over and over! So, there! If you follow our blog, you know that Eric and I got married about two and half years ago, but never had the opportunity to take our honeymoon. We finally decided to do it and jet-setted in December for eight days! Yes. Eight. Whole. Days! Neither of us have ever taken that much time off. Ever! We officially relaxed and recovered (post-work and pre-holiday style) at the all-inclusive resort, Now Sapphire in Riviera Cancun, Mexico. After tons of leg work to find the perfect resort, we settled on this place. It was gorgeous, the price was right, and it had everything we wanted! If anyone wants pricing or booking details, feel free to email me and I am happy to share! Seriously, for the price, nothing could beat this… or this… When we arrived, we were greeted by an amazingly wonderful room with a completely unobstructed ocean view and a jacuzzi on our balcony… which we occasionally made into a bubble bath! Our goal for this trip was to unwind, eat, take in some sun, and enjoy each other. That was it, and if we happened to fit in a few excursions, that would be great too! So our first few days were spent on the beach and on our balcony. I don’t know if you can tell, but I ACTUALLY got a tan! It was a lifetime first and absolutely amazing!!! One magical morning, while Eric was still sleeping, I awoke to this sight and immediately had to grab the camera. There was just something so spiritual and ethereal about it. … Continue reading

DBL 2012 New Years Resolutions
We’re not much for New Year’s resolutions around here, but we are always trying to make and achieve goals! But 2011 has brought a lot of changes and the new year has provided us with a great opportunity to reflect! So for the upcoming year, we’re forcing some more changes… like these… BLOG Resolutions Time Management – this encompasses a whole-lotta things! Basically, I’ll be working to balance my projects/builds, checking out my favorite blogs (and commenting- I’ve been bad lately… sorry guys!), developing a few business goals, and most importantly, writing blog posts! Decor Risks – I LOVE bold rooms, full of color and I love neutral rooms with pops of colors. Either way, color is important! I also recently narrowed our design style and it’s given me a lot more focus for what I’d like to do in our home! From now on, we’ll be taking a bold, colorful version of our own, vintage modern home… like with this room… Builds without Eric – Yup, I’ll be taking more power tools into my own hands… specifically, the saws (miter saw, table saw, circular saw, jigsaw, and Dremel Trio)! Let’s just say that I’m an independent kind’a girl and Brooker at Killer*B is just plain inspirational! We’ll see what I end up with, but I’ve got some major projects in the works! Party Decor Development – I want to snaz up our party decor styles! We absolutely love throwing parties and tend to throw a number of them every year, but I really want to get into more DIY party decor. Pinterest has been a fun place to collect all my ideas and inspiration! Prioritizing Projects – I’ve been known to have project ADD on occasion! I’m a planner at heart and sometimes my planning takes priority over the … Continue reading

Pinterest Partayy!!! Get out and Git’r Done…
Happy official 2012!!! I can’t believe another year has begun! To celebrate the new year and the many many many piles of inspiration we all seem to be accumulating on Pinterest, Jami at What the Graham has decided to speerhead a Pinterest Partayy and asked a few of us fellow bloggers to play along, and hopefully you will too!!! Here’s the deal: 1. Make a project based on some Pinterest inspiration and write about it on your blog (or some other internet format- i.e. Facebook) 2. The two weeks starts now! So pick your project and git’r done!!! 3. Come back here the week of January 15th and link up your project! And see other people’s projects- the handiwork will be amazing- you might even gain more pinspiration and motivation!!! And remember, you can also link up with the other lovely ladies’ pages (What the Graham, Baby Gators Den, Hernando House, Merrypad, Mrs Priss, and The Stucco Bungalow) As for me, no secret revealing at this point! I’ve got a few ideas floating around my brain and I just can’t fully decide which to tackle just yet… BUT, if you want to try and guess, head on over to my Pinterest boards and do some perusing!!! Sorry to keep you in total suspense, but you’ll just have to check back on the 15th to see what craziness I got myself (and Eric probably, too) into! So, without further ado… get your butts moving and git’r done!!! And make sure to check out the lovely ladies who are part of this New Years Pinterest Partayy!!!
