1st Blogiversary Happenings
It’s hard to believe that a year of blogging has already passed me by, and I just want to say THANK YOU to all of you lovely people who make blogging so much fun! While I’m sure recording my DIY life would have still happened, without you guys, it just wouldn’t have had nearly the impact on me. LIFE CHANGES When I started this blogging adventure, I had no idea where it would lead. I didn’t know I’d meet the most amazing friends, I didn’t know it would change me, and I didn’t know it would change my life. True story. My Friends For those of you who may not write a blog, this may seem super strange… it did to me before I started a blog. BUT, starting a blog and meeting other bloggers introduced to a whole network of amazing people, and some of them have become what I consider, really good friends, even if we’ve never met in real life (IRL). Seriously, who would’a thought that this would happen, and I truly can’t wait to meet some of them IRL some day soon! And readers, I definitely cannot forget you in this category! So many of your stop by every day and are constantly leaving me love in the comment section! I can’t tell you how much y’all mean to me and I really consider you guys part of my blogging family! Eric laughs when I start referring to each person by their first name, without any other reference. Me, Rewritten Since blogging, I’ve learned the importance of promoting others more than promoting yourself (hopefully that doesn’t make me sound shallow that I’m now 26 and just truly learning this lesson), the value of listening to my heart and being true to myself, and the benefits of … Continue reading

Shopping Inspiration Dose
With all the craziness of the holidays, law school exams, and settling into the new year with some pretty big projects, I haven’t really had a chance to do a good ‘ole shopping trip for nothing other than pure inspiration! So here we have it… a little eye candy for y’all courtesy of Home Goods and Ross. HOME GOODS Hands down, these were my absolute favorite pieces of furniture in the store!!! I don’t know that all of these pieces would fit into the style of our home, but they literally had me dreaming up ways I could try and make them work! And, everyone loves a good wall hanging, right?!?!? Finally, no home is complete without some lovely accessories… ROSS Now, our Ross is by no means a “Home Goods” style store… it’s a ton smaller! BUT, it is where I happen to find tons of great pieces, like my Chrysanthemum chair that I absolutely adore. Here is my pick of this week’s Ross faves… I can’t say I didn’t fight Eric to try and bring a few of these pieces home… I seriously am regretting not buying the 8×10 orange and blue rug from Home Goods and the giant upholstered ottoman from Ross! I hate that I can’t always have what I want at the very moment, but sometimes, we just have to focus on priorities… and that’s what I’m doing… first projects first. ANY FAVORITES? ANYTHING THAT YOU WOULD ABSOLUTELY DIE TO HAVE IN YOUR HOME, OR DIE IF YOU DID HAVE IT IN YOUR HOME? Blog this! Artsy Little Gifts for Two Adorable, Crafty Little Girls
Two of our beautiful little nieces, Jenna and Jillian, turned four and seven this last week, and the family got together over the weekend to celebrate! After talking over gift ideas with their parents, we decided to get them a load of paint supplies to go with their new art easel. Let’s just say that Uncle Eric and Aunt Ashley go a little crazy sometimes with gifts for the kiddos. Really truly, it’s so fun to pick things out for them! It’s like we’re kids all over again… well, almost! Knowing what a mess artsy projects can be, we decided to go ahead and make an “art box” for each girl, including their own custom art smocks! We try to be good aunts and uncles so we’re not getting crazy payback when we have our own kids! The kits were pretty simple… And the DIY came in when we decided to try our hands at t-shirt transfers for the smocks. It’s a fairly simple process, and the instructions in the kit lay it all out for you. I mocked up some fun, girly, age-appropriate designs in Illustrator, and printed them in reverse on the transfer sheets. After printing, I cut out the designs, making sure to leave at least 1/8 of an inch of “blank space” around the edges. (and don’t even ask me WHY the “N” in Jillian would NOT print… I am convinced that the printer was just possessed!!! It was going to be the death of me, so I just printed it separately and had to eyeball the alignment!) I got the smocks all laid out with their designs on the ironing boards, and ironed away! Then came the “fun” part! We peeled away the transfer backing to reveal the fun new designs… we only had … Continue reading
