$5 Purse Storage Organization

Ladies, you know you need it!  Purses can wreak havoc on closet organization.  They don’t stand up well.  They don’t all conform to the same space.  They vary in shape, size, and material.  Needless to say, finding a solution can be quite difficult without spending tons of money on a custom closet system.  My solution takes literally minutes to set up and only costs around $5!  Total score!

After my closet overhaul, I kept my purses on the very top shelf of my closet.  Even though I knew that it was not a good solution and I would need to find a different storage approach, the top shelf was the only reasonably accommodating place they would fit.  For someone my husband’s height, that would be fine, but standing all of 5’2”, the location just wasn’t working for me.  Any time I would change purses, I’d either have to ask Eric to get it down for me, or I’d grab a bar stool out of the kitchen and risk falling… because I’m klutzy like that!  And any time I’d want to put a purse away, I’d either have to hurl it up there or leave it on the floor- one option was dangerous, and the other left a cluttered floor.  Not. Good.

Maybe I should’ve added to my list of “9 Lessons Learned from a Closet Overhaul,” that everything should be easily accessible or in reach! Winking smile  Anyways, my solution involves a new favorite of mine… THE IKEA BYGEL BAR and BYGEL S-HOOKS!

At only $2 and $3, depending on which length you get, these bars are really affordable, totally durable, and only require four quick screws to install.  I happened to already have hooks on hand, but you can also pick those up for only $1 for a 10-pack!  Literally anyone can install this system with just a screwdriver if that’s all you have!  I happened to have an easy cordless drill, so I snagged eight screws (4 for each bar) and a level from my garage and had the two Bygel bars up in a matter of 2 minutes!  Easy! Peasy!

And, as with most of my organization projects, I couldn’t be happier!!!  I’ve got a functional, effective storage system for my purses, and now I can easily access, swap out, and rearrange my purses any time I want… without the assistance of a barstool or my hubby!

That’s a great idea! Where can I find the rod and hooks? I have been looking for simple hooks like these.
